just some random observations on my part. :D

***
i was looking at this anti-drug abuse campaign pencil holder thingy that has stood on my table since goodness knows when (umm, it says 2002, but it seems so long ago), and well, i read it. (everyone go 'wow'.) so well, i came to the part about sudden sniffing death, otherwise abbreviated as ssd, and i couldn't help but burst out in laughter.

not that i'm pooh-poohing the dire consequences that arise out of drug abuse, but somehow, 'sudden sniffing death' just sounds a bit, hilarious? i think it's got something to do with the inclusion of the word 'sniffing' - i mean, it isn't exactly a word that you would expect medical professionals to use as part of their infinitely complex medical jargon. at least 'inhalation' sounds more apt. ohwell, i'm not in the position to comment, but still!

msleow gave us some sort of a pep talk today about the nie student who was going to take over our class for a couple of weeks as part of his practicum. and it really put things in another perspective. 'cos usually our attitude to new/relief teachers would be 'hey, this teacher's new and unaccustomed to our learning styles, our class, the school etc. etc. etc.' and then we would proceed to give him/her a hell of a time. but the way msleow puts it, about how we were the deciding factor in whether a training teacher would grow to be enthusiastic about his/her furture teaching career, or otherwise, places the entire matter in a totally different light. seriously, i would never have thought how great an influence we had on these student-teachers' future as actual teachers, their attitude towards teaching, their passion towards inspiring young minds and all. couple that with the pressure that this student (and he/she is still a student, learning new things, trying out new stuff, and learning to find what's truly comfortable for him/her as a teacher) faces with having to do his practicum in rgs, what with the common perceptions of it being a premier girls' school and all, and it really shows how tough it's going to be for him/her.

anyway, msleow's such a fantastic teacher. (: would really miss her for lit/english: she has extremely brilliant ideas and her lessons are never short of exciting. hope the next 6-7 weeks with the trainee teacher would be equally fun though. :D

was doing this personality test for fun (and out of sheer boredom, to slack before the horrors, or maybe not exactly horrors, of math and mep), and out came this question.

'believe in the importance of art.'

and of course i clicked strongly agree. (:

that's just a (rather unnecessary) preamble. :D point is, i'll be setting off for england this saturday, and it's the same feeling of apprehension-excitement like pre-prague. of course it's wonderful and downright cool to be going off to a place as far as england, with a few of the finest musical schools, and spending a week there interacting with the people, but i haven't the faintest idea of what's going to happen in that week of intensive music-making, because i've never experienced anything of the like (slovenia was only, umm, 3-4 days? at any rate it wasn't a week). hopefully it's going to be good, on top of being enriching! (: ohohoh, and with a bit of luck, we'll get to see frances and deanna. (:

[whee we're going to listen to a choir sing in a cathedral. yay :D]

point no.2: apparently people have vastly different views on my music. fls thinks that my debussy is loads better than my chopin, but profyu feels otherwise. (i think both are equally bad actually, grawr.) and i must seriously learn how to read scores in detail and carefully, so that i don't end up with an avalanche of wrong notes that is terribly embarrassing when your teacher has to go through the chords one by one to see whether you've gotten them right. thank goodness there's still one more week. (: and now let's go fully appreciate the rich harmonies of chopin, because i haven't just yet. :D

point no.3: i shall ignore the fact that i still have auditions at purcell. (and eek, what exactly is a theory exam! yes that question has remained unanswered until now.)

that's all, i think? (because i have a fatally bad memory that seems specialized only for the retention of useless junk.) now back to math (algebra! and set theory), and worrying over how i'm going to finish annotating tkmb and reading the entire of the chinese book that i have to do a book report on.

[hmph that means intensive mugging on the plane, and there goes my reading of kiran desai's 'the inheritance of loss' during the holidays. double hmph.]

composed; 5:56 PM :D

MICHELLE. (:

lives, writes, sings, plays the piano, and attempts to sound intellectual at times (conclusion: fails rather miserably).

loves music (almost strictly classical, hurhur & inclusive of faziolis!), literature (& also the sciences - no they are not in conflict), making hopelessly lame puns, laughter, white/milk chocolate, cheesecake, the world & the people in it. list not exhaustive, by the way.

wants the world to be filled with peace, joy and love, and also wants (perhaps a little more selfishly) to be happy, plus lead a life of purpose. that would be more than enough. (:

oh, and she likes embarking on her own 'free hugs!' campaigns after exams and the like; not really sure why. D: (at any rate, you can tell that she's random enough.)

loves you!♥

very plain, she knows; but this is probably herself in its entirety - nothing more than a compilation of perhaps-boring-to-you little things (and the occasional Important Event), but also nothing less than all the brilliant memories which constitutes her life, and perhaps yours.

also interpreted as an inability to express with other things but words (nothing more, nothing less!), although even words sometimes won't do enough. but she does like orange.

v2.0 (230208): maybe solid grey isn't that fantastic after all. but wordy is good, all the same. she's weird, she knows.

ver. i-pretend-that-it-is-3.0-when-i-know-it-is-not (070608): i am boring, take that. (:

v4.0 (200908): got bored, so cut down on the quasi-fanciful stuff even more. perfectly plain now, though somehow the background still doesn't work on safari / google chrome. ):
